This evening will be hosted by Jean Claude Hironde (Sup Aéro 1965), father of the Rafale and former Chief Technical Officer of Dassault Aviation.

Jean Claude Hironde

Professional career :  Graduate of the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de l'Aéronautique et de l'Espace (Sup'Aéro 1968).  Joined A.M.D.B.A (Avions Marcel Dassault-Breguet Aviation) in 1969.  Starts in the Bureau de Calculs des Structures, then takes part in the various MIRAGE F1 programs. Becomes Technical Manager for MIRAGE F 1 Exportation, then MIRAGE F1 CR.  Appointed head of definition studies for aircraft destined for the French Air Force and Navy for the next decade, he takes charge of the ACX/RAFALE A experimental aircraft from design through to flight testing.  Deputy Technical Director for A.M.D./B.A. in 1987, he is Technical Manager for the entire RAFALE program.  In 1992, Chairman of the Groupe Industriel Système du RAFALE, which brings together the main manufacturers in the RAFALE TEAM.  In 1993, Deputy Director to the Technical General Manager of DASSAULT AVIATION.  In 93-94, IHEDN, 46th session.  January 1996, Deputy Managing Director of Technical Affairs.  On October 1, 1998, Chairman of the Technical Committee of GIFAS (Groupement des Industries Françaises Aéronautiques et Spatiales).  In January 2000, Executive Vice President, Defense Engineering of DASSAULT AVIATION.  Director of ONERA, representing the Dassault Group (2000-2009).  February 2003, Technical Director of the new Falcon 7X program.  Retired in September 2007 after delivery of the first Falcon 7X aircraft.  From May 2015 to October 2016: chargé de mission to the Chairman of Dassault-Aviation. Associations :  Member of Académie de l'Air et de l'Espace (in charge of Entretiens de Toulouse).  Director of the AAF, member of the Haut Conseil Scientifique.  Member of the Aéro Club de France.  Member of TOMATO.  Member of Vieilles Racines.  Member of the Associations des Anciens Sup'Aéro and IHEDN.  President of the Musée de l'Homme de Neandertal in La Chapelle-aux-Saints (Corrèze) (2003-2009). Awards, distinctions and decorations: 1988: AAF Aeronautics Prize. 1992: Aeronautics Medal. 1997: ICARE Award. 1998: Chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur. 2004: Officer of the National Order of Merit. 2007: Sponsor of the Sup'Aéro 2007 graduating class. 2008: AAAF Senior Emeritus. 2010: ICAS Prize for Innovation in Aeronautics. Sports : Judo: IIIrd Dan black belt. Former French and European team champion.
